Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask

**Disclaimer: I received this Neutrogena product for free in exchange for my honest, unbiased review**

Hello my lovely readers!

I am very excited about finally sharing this post with you all because it is something I have been obsessing about over the past two and a half weeks!  Neutrogena has introduced their newest innovation – The Light Therapy Acne Mask.  Sounds awesome right?  Now personally, I don’t struggle with any severe acne but I do get the occasional stress breakouts.  It is awesome to have something that can target acne without the use of harsh chemical-based products.

As I’ve mentioned many times in previous posts, I tend to have pretty sensitive skin.  Typically, I don’t use many anti-acne products for the reason that I try to avoid putting harsh chemicals on my face.  I find that anti-acne products are extremely harsh on my skin and dry it out even if they are formulated for sensitive skin.  I do however use spot treatments because I only have to cover a small amount on my face.  The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask uses a 100% chemical-free treatment.  The mask itself contains 21 LED lights in total that are distributed across the mask.  Of those 21 LED lights, 12 are blue bulbs that give off light at a wavelength that kills the acne bacteria causing breakouts.  9 of the lights are red LED bulbs that emit a wavelength of light that penetrates deep into your skin to calm down any inflammation caused by acne.  The mask also contains amber-colorer plastic lenses to minimize the glare while you’re wearing the mask.  Personally, I would not recommend keeping your eyes open during the treatment because it can get pretty bright.  This actually works in your favour because it gives you a valid excuse to lay down for 10 minutes and relax without any disruptions #spatime.

The mask itself is very very lightweight and it almost feels like you’re not wearing anything on your face.  It sits pretty comfortable so you can walk around with it on however, personally I prefer to relax for the treatment duration.  The treatment lasts 10 minutes.  The mask has a cord in which you plug the activator in (this requires batteries).  The activator holds 30 treatment sessions and once they are used up, simply recycle the activator.  This mask is safe to use on all skin types and on a daily basis for best results.

I normally use this mask at night before I go to bed.  I remove all my makeup and wash my face.  Once the 10 minutes are up, the mask shuts off on its own.  After my mask treatment is done, I continue with my nighttime skincare routine.

One thing I want to mention is that don’t turn the mask on just to look at the lights or test it out.  Unfortunately, I did this 3 times for my IG photos and I didn’t realize that the activator uses up a treatment (out of the 30) each time you turn on the mask.  Next time I will definitely not do that 🙂  Over the past two weeks that I have been using the mask, I can’t really say I’ve noticed a decrease in acne because I don’t really have any to begin with.  However I will say that I did notice that I have not broken out once since receiving the mask AND my face doesn’t get as many red spots as it did before.  Overall I am really pleased with what I’ve seen so far with this mask.  I love that it is chemical free and helps fight acne and inflammation.  This mask will be available for purchase in September 2017 at all food, drug and mass merchandisers nationwide as well as online.  The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask AND 30 session activator will be priced at $45.99 – $49.99 CAD.  If you are looking to replace the activator after your 30 sessions are used up, this will only cost $19.99 to $21.99 CAD.

I hope you all enjoyed my review.  I love that brands are implementing new innovation and technology to advance skincare and beauty.  This is definitely something I would recommend to someone who suffers from acne since it is quite affordable and you are not risking your skin by applying chemical-based products.  What do you guys think of this Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask?
