✿// Like red lipsticks, a girl can never have too many nude lipsticks. Personally, for my everyday casual daytime look, I usually prefer to go with a nude or very soft colored lipstick. Now I know “we” try to encourage a pop of color by adding a bright pink, orange, or even a red lip in the daytime whatever the season may be. Me, however, I stick to the nudes especially if I’m at work. For those of you who are new to my site and don’t know much about my background, I work in a corporate environment during the day so I tend to tone down my “stylishness” and leave the experimenting to the weekends.
I was frolicking around in Sephora the other week and I purchased some nude colors from the Nars Collection. I am IN LOVE with their lipsticks but honestly, for everyday use $37 a piece is pretty steep. I don’t have a problem with paying that much but my inner cheapskate tells me to save them for “special occasions” and to get something cheaper. That means its an opportunity to go buy some more makeup! WHO is going to turn that down? Definitely not me 🙂 So, off to the drugstore I went.
I was stopped at the L’Oreal section by a shiny black display with gold trimming. OOOOHHHH WHAT COULD THIS BE??? I picked up one lipstick after another. Inspecting one by one. The colors were all soft nudes I didn’t know which one to pick! These definitely look like a rather high-end lipstick with gold accents and black matte casing thats soft to the touch.
The best part is that they were on sale for $6.99! I wanted to get all of them but I figured I would just start with one and see how it goes from there. The L’Oreal Colllection Privée is a new collection of limited edition L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipsticks featuring custom-made nude shades chosen by the most iconic and influential L’Oréal Paris celebs like Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto, Jennifer Lopez, Julianne Moore, Doutzen Kroes, and Liya Kebede and tons more.
My favorite so far (and only one I really tried) is the Jennifer Lopez “Jlo’s Nude”. It is the perfect “invisible” nude lipstick. It goes on very smoothly and leaves a hint of gloss and shimmer, kind of like a lip balm. I really like how soft it keeps my lips and not to mention the faint color of a nude dusty-rose . Surprisingly, it lasted a few hours before I had to re-apply. If you’re looking for an 8-hour long-lasting lipstick, this isn’t your choice but if you don’t mind occasionally re-applying every 4ish hours then this one is a keeper!
My only dislike for this lipstick is that it has that floral “lipstick” smell. Im not too particularly fond of that but it does go away after you apply it on your lips. Also, I wish it were a little more pigmented as opposed to opaque. It takes about 3 to 4 coats to fully get the color on the lip. I guess you can say for the price, it’s a pretty good deal. \\✿
With all that being said, my overall rating for this lipstick is 7.5/10.
